Tom Romita

Writer. Director. Frustrated Human.

Tom has been successfully (not) writing “unscripted” television shows for twenty years. From the romantic comedy of “Blind Date” and “Matched in Manhattan,” to the family drama of “Wife Swap” and “Shalom in the Home,” to the workplace shenanigans of “Counting Cars” and “New York Ink,” Tom has crafted stories to the delight of millions of viewers over the years. He’s reached a level of success that has allowed him to live in the city he loves, New York, and secure a wife, son and daughter so beautiful, people think he’s adopted. But now, he’s doing it the right way. He’s writing stuff down.

Right here.

CITIZEN SHANE (The Accidental Mogul)

Money.  Betrayal.  Salad Dressing.

Citizen Shane is Tom's most daring work to date, and will no doubt stir debate and ire in many who  see it. While there have certainly been enough films and books  written on the corruptive power of money and the evil nature of those who have great sums of it, Tom approached the subject from a different angle - What if a man, proudly and vehemently opposed to the rich and powerful and everything they stand for,  suddenly finds himself amongst their ranks? Citizen Shane is the story of one man's struggle to keep his integrity and identity as one of the "good guys," after amassing a great fortune  the old fashioned way- by earning it.

Against his desires, Shane Foster goes from Brooklyn bartender to food magnate almost overnight, and along his unplanned journey, he learns that rich, poor, good and evil are not as black and white as he once believed, and the lines of separation between them are not as clear and straight as he once thought.  He soon learns that crossing over these lines into uncharted territory is not always a matter of freewill, sometimes where life takes you is dictated by things beyond choice, and Shane must come to terms with his newly determined destiny.
